The Radnofsky Saxophone Quartet plays……….

This recording of The Radnofsky Saxophone Quartet recreates a performance given on November 7, 2008 at Bostonʼs venerable Harvard Musical Association (HMA). To showcase the music of longtime HMA member and Boston composer Betsy Warren-Davis, theRadnofsky Saxophone Quartet was asked to play a full-length concert including Warrenʼs Saxophone Quartet. The group was introduced as “the first saxophonists to appear at Harvard Musical Association in its entire history.” All enjoyed the concert performance so much that a groundswell of support developed for a permanent record of the event. In that spirit, Wiscasset Music Publishing Company asked the Radnofsky Saxophone Quartet to record the four pieces in a single session at Merrimack College in March, 2009. The Radnofsky Saxophone Quartet is comprised of  Kenneth Radnofsky, Alto Saxophone Philipp A. Stäudlin, Soprano Saxophone, Eliot Gattegno, Tenor Saxophone Eric Hewitt, Baritone Saxophone.  A standing ovation was given by a generous and appreciative audience at Jordan Hall (New England Conservatory, Boston), following their magical 2003 debut. This new quartet represented the development of thirty years of performance and teaching for founder Kenneth Radnofsky (all members were/are his former students). Said Radnofsky, “This is the finest quartet with which Iʼve ever performed. Idonʼt believe we could have put together a better quartet, anywhere.  Itʼs the closest to a matched set that I could have imagined, while still leaving plenty of room for individual personalities.”
